Colorado Critical Interdisciplinary Speaker Event

On November 16 and 17, Dr. Timothy Luke, widely published author and Distinguished Professor at Virginia Tech, will be visiting the University of Colorado Denver campus to offer two major events for students, faculty, and members of the local community.  The MHMSS Program and Interdisciplinary Studies are the sponsors of the event and are joined by eleven co-sponsoring departments and programs across the campus. We would like to strongly encourage you to plan to attend, promote, and bring friends and family to the following events:

SUSTAINABILIZATION: A Critique of Green Economy(s)
“Sustainability” is a buzz word that is used by citizens, communities, corporations and governments. In this public talk, Dr. Timothy Luke, Distinguished Professor at Virginia Tech, will challenge the audience to think critically about what is actually being produced and sustained in our society’s pervasive use of the rhetoric of sustainability.

The Politics of the Anthropocene: A Roundtable Discussion
Description: Dr. Luke will give a short presentation of his most current research on the politics of the recently coined term “anthropocene” and its broad and often uncritical usage across a number of disciplines.”  The remainder of the session will be an opportunity for faculty and graduate students to ask questions and engage in a scholarly discussion.
