MURP Faculty Receive National Science Foundation Grant

July 2014

Denver, CO – Four University of Colorado Denver faculty, including three from the Department of Planning & Design, received a $35,000 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to study housing recovery following the 2013 Colorado floods. Assistant Professors Andrew Rumbach and Carrie Makarewicz, and Associate Professor and Chair Jeremy Németh, along with Geography and Environmental Science’s Deborah Thomas, will study housing recovery in three flood-affected counties: Boulder, Larimer, and Weld. Their research is being supported by the Infrastructure Management and Extreme Events program at NSF, which focuses on the impact of large-scale hazards on civil infrastructure and society.
